Brian Atkinson
The nicest voice in comedy. Brian Atkinson is a comedian who played a serial killer on TV while doing voices for PBS Kids. This guy-next-door with a radio voice talks about his career in broadcasting, voiceover, and being adopted twice, with twisted observations of everyday life. Brian is an award-winning comedian: Best of The Bash 2022, 2023, and 2025. Brian Atkinson is a 2023-2026 Top 40 Comic, two-time Wildcard 1st Place Winner, and 2026 Semi-Finalist in the World Series of Comedy. Brian is so funny, you might not notice he’s working clean.
Stan Freberg’s United States of America
Stan Freberg Presents the United States of America Volume One: The Early Years is a 1961 American comedy album with music and lyrics written by Stan Freberg and sketches written by Freberg and Ken Sullett, released as Capitol W/SW-1573 in 1961. Freberg satirizes episodes of the history of the United States from 1492 until the end of the Revolutionary War in 1783. The album combined dialogue and song in a musical theater format. Billy May orchestrated and conducted the music, with the Jud Conlon Singers providing background vocals. Our presentation as a staged radio play omits the musical numbers but maintains the biting satire. It’s worth noting that a casual listener may perceive stereotypes that haven’t aged well. The satirical roast of the white man and historical authority figures survives and flourishes 65 years later. There’s no punching down to oppressed people groups, only punching up at the pedestal standers like Christopher Columbus, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. It’s a hilarious romp through the early years of American history even if you’re not a history buff.
