World Series of Comedy

The World Series of Comedy was first held in Pittsburgh, PA, in 2003 at a local comedy club. Today, the World Series of Comedy is a stand-up comedy event for comedians of all levels. It starts with weeklong live satellite contests all around the U.S. and Canada, culminating in a comedy festival we call The Main Event, in September. The festival includes 101 qualifying comedians competing in The Main Event, as well as an entire week of comedy seminars and social and networking events for comics, comedy club managers and bookers from the U.S. and Canada.

Mike Marvell has been doing comedy professionally for over 25 years, although he's been making people laugh his whole life. He told his guidance counciler in high school he wanted to be an engineer and she told him "With your grades? That's hilarious, you should be a comedian!" His comedy is based on growing up in Wisconsin... football, hunting, fishing, his family, and his wife and kids. He's performed at everything from churches to swinger clubs, grade schools to colleges, country clubs. to biker clubs, nursing homes to casinos (same thing). The World Series of Comedy was first held in Pittsburgh, PA, in 2003 at a local comedy club. Today, the World Series of Comedy is a stand-up comedy event for comedians of all levels. It starts with weeklong live satellite contests all around the U.S. and Canada, culminating in a comedy festival we call The Main Event, in September. The festival includes 101 qualifying comedians competing in The Main Event, as well as an entire week of comedy seminars and social and networking events for comics, comedy club managers and bookers from the U.S. and Canada.

Brian Atkinson is a 2023 and 2025 Wild Card 1st place winner and a 2023-2026 top 40 comic in the World Series of Comedy.

He’s opened for notable “Bobs” like Bob Nelson, Bob Smiley, and Robert (Bob) G. Lee, and performed at Dr. Grins at the B.O.B. Brian has also opened for Jeff Jena, Kira Soltanovich, Michael Palascak, Adam Minnick, Happy Cole, Leslie Norris Townsend, Tommy Ryman, Chris Young, Andy Beningo, and Dave Williamson.
